The inspiration behind "Doel" lies in the unique and compelling history of the town. Once a vibrant village, Doel has been gradually deserted due to plans for expanding the nearby port. Despite its desolation, the town's decaying structures and deserted streets tell stories of its past inhabitants, their lives, and their unyielding attachment to their homes. The project seeks to encapsulate this sentiment, highlighting the tension between abandonment and the innate desire for preservation.
